Lance Lynn went from dazzling to dizzying, and the Sox offense followed suit in their loss to the Padres.
Coming out with outstanding stuff and pinpoint control, Lynn struck out three batters in the first — and then never regained that same mojo. He exited the game with a Nuke LaLoosh-like line of four walks and five strikeouts in 2 2⁄3 innings.
On offense, the Sox continued to scuffle, beginning with San Diego starter Blake Snell, who surrendered just an infield single to Adam Engel. Overall, the Sox did a better job at taking pitches, but it didn’t result in much better contact.
