Ozzie Guillen is set to return to managing, but not in Major League Baseball.
Los Tiburones de La Guaira, a team in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League, announced Wednesday on its social media account and website that Guillen would manage the team next season. Guillen confirmed the news via text message Wednesday.
Guillen, who is from Venezuela, managed the White Sox from 2004-2011, being named American League manager of the year while leading the club to the 2005 World Series championship. But he hasn’t managed since the Marlins fired him in October 2012 after one season, though the club paid him the remainder of his contract through last season.
