Newcomer Ryan LaMarre is getting his first start for the White Sox on Friday night against the Royals in the opener of a three-game series at Guaranteed Rate Field leading into the All-Star break.
Look for lots of scoring, as these pitching staffs have allowed more runs than any other major-league team (the Royals rank 30th and the Sox 29th in run prevention). James Shields starts for the Sox against Royals right-hander Brad Keller.
The Sox claimed LaMarre, 29, on waivers from the Twins on Tuesday.
