Outfielder Brian Goodwin reportedly signs a minor-league deal with the Chicago White Sox as they seek options to replace Luis Robert

The Chicago White Sox reportedly signed outfielder Brian Goodwin to a minor-league deal Tuesday as they search for help in the aftermath of center fielder Luis Robert’s hip flexor injury.

The Sox officially placed Robert on the 10-day injured list Tuesday and recalled infielder Danny Mendick from Triple-A Charlotte. Robert, 23, will not participate in baseball activities for 12 to 16 weeks after suffering a grade 3 strain of his right hip flexor Sunday against the Cleveland Indians.

The 30-year-old Goodwin has a .250/.317/.455 career slash line with 42 home runs and 129 RBIs in 357 games with the Washington Nationals (2016-18), Kansas City Royals (2018), Los Angeles Angels (2019-20) and Cincinnati Reds (2020).
