It’s easy to see how University of Washington nose tackle Danny Shelton could help resurrect the Chicago Bears’ defense. The strong 6-foot-2, 339-pounder can be a dominant anchor against run blocks, a requirement for that position in coordinator Vic Fangio’s 3-4 front.
The Bears seem well-positioned to draft Shelton on Thursday night with the seventh overall pick. The more pressing question is: Do they want to?
“You’re good on defense when you’re good up the middle,” coach John Fox said Wednesday.
