Near the end of managing the White Sox to a fourth straight disappointing season, Robin Ventura hopes he will be given another shot in 2016.
As the Sox begin to ponder changes, the manager, who is under contract for next year, said before Tuesday's game against the Indians at U.S. Cellular Field that he "absolutely" wants to return.
"People who think I don't care, that's an unfair assessment," Ventura said. "Nobody cares more about how it's going here than I do."
After Tuesday's 7-4 victory over the Indians, in which catcher Rob Brantly launched a three-run homer for his first Sox hit, Ventura has managed the club to a 287-336 record in nearly four seasons.
