Nick Hostetler said his promotion to White Sox director of amateur scouting will not necessarily change the organization's philosophy when it comes to the draft.
Hostetler, 37, said the Sox's strategy — "best player available on the board at the time" — will remain the same. But with his previous experiences as an area scout with the Sox and Braves and the Sox's East Coast cross-checker, he expects he will leave his own imprint too.
"With the White Sox, it has been a little more college (-oriented)," Hostetler said. "I'll never shy away from any sort of type of player … but I do have a little bit more background with the high school-type players.
