Nate Jones heads to disabled list, Carlos Rodon placed on 60-day DL

The good news is that Rick Renteria now has a second left-hander out of the bullpen to play with. The bad news will take significantly longer to explain.

Carlos Rodon is being placed on the 60-day disabled list to accommodate the White Sox adding journeyman David Holmberg onto the 40-man roster and into the major league pen. While that seems like the most eye-popping news, it’s likely the most functionally irrelevant.

Rodon has been on the disabled list since March 30, and despite some stated hopes that he would be throwing off a mound just two weeks into the regular season, the White Sox did not confirm that he had made the move to throwing off a mound until Thursday.
