On a purely baseball level, it’s hard to argue with the White Sox moving on from John Danks. The South Siders are off to a white-hot 19-8 start (after Tuesday’s 4-1 win over the Red Sox) and Danks had struggled through four starts with a robust 7.25 ERA. He gave up five runs or more in three of his four starts.
But sometimes the game is about more than just statistics and crooked numbers.
Everyone in the organization from the front office to manager Robin Ventura and the coaching staff to his fellow teammates to even Danks himself understood the decision to designate him for assignment.
