Justin Morneau's journey back to the major leagues entered another phase this week when he began a rehab assignment at Triple-A Charlotte of the International League.
If all goes well, Morneau could be a designated hitter for the Chicago White Sox shortly after the All-Star break, reports Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times.
A former AL Most Valuable Player and four-time All-Star, Morneau has gone 0-for-2 in each of his first two games at Charlotte. The 35-year-old signed a one-year deal with the White Sox last month after putting up a .
