Chicago White Sox designated hitter Justin Morneau admits that the choice of whether he will play in 2017 is not entirely up to him.
However, Colleen Kane of the Chicago Tribune reports that Morneau hopes that he has shown enough since his return from offseason surgery to repair a tendon in his left elbow to earn a chance to play next season.
"Hopefully I've shown enough, but you never know," Morneau told the Chicago Tribune. "If the right opportunity is not there, the choice might not be up to me.
