Could trade talks between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox result in reliever David Robertson heading back to the Bronx?
Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports the Yankees and White Sox have expanded their discussions regarding left-hander Jose Quintana to include Robertson, who spent seven seasons with the Yankees and saved a career-high 39 games in 2014 before signing a free agent deal with the White Sox. The 31-year-old Robertson had 37 saves last season, but also blew seven other opportunities.
Nightengale says any deal for the reliever would involve the Yankees eating a portion of the $25 million left on Robertson’s contract.
