Miguel Gonzalez’s curveball, which he’s been using more than ever this season, really looked like a useful tool through three scoreless innings Monday in Arizona.
The 79 mph bender served big slow, change of pace from his fastball/cutter/slider combination that gave hitters a different look to worry about.
Then he hung one.
Daniel Descalso launched that hanger into the Diamondbacks’ right field patio for a three-run blast in the fourth, and the Zack Greinke-Miguel Gonzalez pitching duel was thrown off track in a way it would not recover from, as the White Sox lost 5-1 to the Diamondbacks.
