The White Sox sorely needed a solid outing from Miguel Gonzalez on Wednesday against the New York Yankees. After the Yankees pummeled the White Sox for nine runs and 20 hits on Tuesday, Gonzalez held the Bronx Bombers to just five hits over seven innings pitched and allowed no earned runs in a victory for the home team.
Gonzalez, who had a stellar outing in his previous start against the Houston Astros on July 1, pitched perhaps his best start of the season. After not getting a victory against the Astros, Gonzalez was able to survive a shaky first inning against the Yankees to hold New York scoreless throughout seven innings pitched.
