The White Sox called up right-hander Miguel Gonzalez and reinstated catcher Alex Avila from the disabled list before Monday’s game against the Rangers at Globe Life Park.
Gonzalez will make his second Sox start on Monday night. He allowed five earned runs on 11 hits and two walks in 5 1/3 innings against the Blue Jays on April 25. Gonzalez is 1-0 with a 2.65 ERA and 18 strikeouts in four starts with Triple-A Charlotte.
He is the second Sox pitcher to make a start in place of John Danks, who was designated for assignment last week.
