In his first Cactus League at-bat this year, Matt Davidson singled to left field and eventually scored on a groundout at Camelback Ranch.
That the White Sox prospect made the trip around the bases without incident was his first small victory of spring.
“I made it around that time, so that was a good thing,” Davidson said.
Davidson was joking about his heart- and foot-breaking baserunning last June. In his Sox debut, he hit a fourth-inning RBI single, but he fractured his foot while rounding first base and needed season-ending surgery.
He doesn’t rehash the moment much anymore – he has too much to worry about this spring with a Sox roster spot ripe for his taking.
