Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert has a torn right hip flexor and will be out three to four months whether he needs surgery or not, the team announced Monday.
A team statement said Robert was examined at Rush University Medical Center, “and a scan showed a grade 3 strain (complete tear) of the hip flexor. Further consultation and examination in the coming days will determine if surgery or rest and rehabilitation is needed for recovery. He will not participate in baseball activities for 12-16 weeks, regardless of the determination.”
Robert suffered the injury in the first inning Sunday against the Cleveland Indians when he raced to first for an infield hit.
