Left fielder Eloy Jiménez had been sidelined since the end of March with a ruptured left pectoral tendon. And center fielder Luis Robert went on the injured list in early May with a complete tear of his right hip flexor.
In the aftermath of Robert’s injury, the Sox added strong contributor Brian Goodwin but for the most part have relied on internal options. As Major League Baseball inches closer to Friday’s trade deadline, the outfield situation continues to trend in a positive direction for the team.
Jiménez made his regular-season debut Monday against the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium.
