DETROIT — Luis Robert wasn’t in the Chicago White Sox lineup for Monday’s series opener against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, but that didn’t change the center fielder’s approach for the day.
For the first time this season, the Sox didn’t start Robert. Manager Rick Renteria looked at it as a study day for the rookie.
“It’s a little easier when a guy is removing himself from the whole process in terms of playing in a game,” Renteria said. “They’re able to watch, see their teammates, take it in in a more relaxed fashion. They get to study their teammates, they get to study the opponents.
