The White Sox sent rookie Lucas Giolito to the mound for the finale of a three-game series against the Royals on Sunday at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Giolito was 2-2 with a 1.95 ERA over his last fi ve starts, allowing one run or fewer three times. The right-hander was making his seventh start of the season and second against the Royals.
Gioloto was opposed by veteran right-hander Ian Kennedy (4-12, 5.39) for the Royals.
Jose Abreu had the day off for the Sox. The first baseman has been playing through a shin injury.
