Lucas Giolito exits early — and 2 position players pitch — as the Chicago White Sox fall to the Boston Red Sox 11-4 in the series finale

Giolito allowed seven earned runs on eight hits in one-plus. He walked two, surrendered two home runs and did not have a strikeout.

He got ahead of leadoff hitter Enrique Hernández 0-2 before the second baseman hit a changeup to left field for a home run. The next five hitters reached with singles.

Franchy Cordero had the seventh and final hit of the inning, a one-out single to left. One run scored on the hit and a second came home when Leury García couldn’t cleanly field the ball.

The troubles continued in the second. J.D. Martinez hit a first-pitch slider over the Green Monster to make it 7-1.
