When Jon Cooper was with the Green Bay Gamblers, coaching the team to the championship of the top junior hockey league in the United States, he did some promotional videos that spoofed the Dos Equis beer commercials.
They were called, "THE most INTERESTING MAN in HOCKEY."
The tag line was an understatement.
The coach whose Tampa Bay Lightning are playing the Blackhawks in the Stanley Cup Finals is fascinating in any context.
No matter that Cooper's story would seem at first glance the classic narrative of a hockey coaching lifer, the guy from a place 500 miles north of Vancouver who worked his way up from a bottom rung of his profession to the big time over 13 years.
