Letters from Camp: Extremely live-armed batting practice

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Live batting practice was the name of the game Tuesday in White Sox camp, and not just as a derisive term for split squad games. After being spared the withering gaze of the media in the morning in favor of the rigors of a social media training meeting, the Sox hit the field for baserunning and rundown drills. During rundowns, outfielders have the pleasure of feeling like rodeo cattle as they were chased up and down the basepaths, and Lucas Giolito and Carson Fulmer subbed in as outfielders during contact-play baserunning. Giolito showed some range in center, but it’s unclear if his bat would play enough to be a regular.
