Before Thursday’s game, Robin Ventura said he thought John Danks had pitched better than his numbers had shown.
Then Danks proceeded to earn his third loss in three starts this season.
But Thursday’s decision in a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Angels wasn’t as much about what the White Sox left-hander did as it was about what his teammates didn’t. Danks gave his club six hard-fought innings, enough for a victory, but the White Sox offense stayed mostly dormant against Jered Weaver as the Angels earned a split of the four-game series.
Weaver limited the White Sox to a Melky Cabrera solo homer over seven innings while Mike Trout’s two-run shot in the fifth inning against Danks was enough to prevent a third straight victory by the White Sox.
