It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish. That’s what mattered on Wednesday afternoon as the White Sox topped the Tigers 7-4 in the final game of their three-game series.
The Sox overcame some bad first-inning baserunning (so bad, in fact, that broadcaster Steve Stone said it was “absolutely a clinic in what not to do in baserunning,” in his version of Eddie Olczyk’s “For all you young hockey players out there…”) and a three-run home run surrendered by Jose Quintana to win back-to-back games against the Tigers for the first time since July.
Crazy eighth: Heading into the eighth down 4-3, the White Sox needed to kick it in gear.
