The White Sox held a one-run lead late Thursday against the Yankees.
Aaron Bummer assumed closer Alex Colome would get the call for the ninth inning.

Colome received an extra day of rest after pitching 1 2/3 innings on Tuesday against the Nationals. So the Sox turned to Bummer to get the final three outs.
“I said, ‘Let’s go,’” Bummer said of the opportunity. “It’s a really good feeling. It’s pretty cool.”
After allowing a one-out single, Bummer struck out the final two batters for the first save of his career.
