The Detroit Tigers executed one of the best tanks in MLB history last season.
The team stood at 30-32 on June 11, a respectable record putting them in position to still compete in the wild card race. However, the team realized it simply did not have the assets to make a late-season push, and traded away assets like Justin Verlander, J.D. Martinez, Alex Avila and Justin Wilson.
The moves put the Tigers into full tank mode, and they went 34-66 after June 11 to finish the season 64-98 — the worst record in baseball.
