Executive Vice President Ken Williams admitted that the bulk of the White Sox’s top prospects might be a year or more away from arriving in the major leagues.
That hasn’t stopped the front office from trying to acquire a signature free agent such as Bryce Harper.
“If it’s a guy who can play and is the right guy and fits economically into today and tomorrow, then I think it’s a great thing,” Williams said Monday at the winter meetings.
“The answer is obvious.”
The Sox believe they’re ready to turn the corner after trading away Chris Sale and Adam Eaton for seven prospects at the winter meetings two years ago.
