Ken Williams says White Sox handled Chris Sale situation in 'excellent fashion'

White Sox executive vice president Ken Williams gave manager Robin Ventura his support Tuesday for the way Ventura handled Chris Sale’s outburst over throwback jerseys Saturday.

Williams was out of town to attend an event when Sale destroyed the 1976 jerseys in protest because he reportedly found them uncomfortable and thought they could impede his pitching. But Williams said Ventura and general manager Rick Hahn handled the situation and the fallout from the announcement of Sale's five-game suspension in “excellent fashion.”

“They went into it certainly with an open mind with regards to all possible outcomes on the way they wanted to handle it,” Williams said.
