Jose Quintana shines, gets no-decision in White Sox’s extra-inning win

SEATTLE — The numbers might not be there this season for Melky Cabrera, but he’s still a professional hitter.

With two outs and two strikes, and with go-ahead pinch runner Leury Garcia on second base, Cabrera jumped on a slider and lined the game-altering RBI double into right to fuel a 2-1 White Sox win in extra innings in Seattle. The White Sox snapped a four-game losing streak.

“I was looking for a good pitch to make contact,” Cabrera said through an interpreter.”That was my focus. I made good contact and the line drive came.”

Having already shut down the Mariners in the ninth in relief of a brilliant night for starter Jose Quintana, David Robertson threw a perfect 1-2-3 10th to finish off the win.
