White Sox ace Jose Quintana at the height of his powers is an easy enough idea for everyone to appreciate these days, but fewer loving narratives, expansive features or inspiring made-for-TV movies will be made about the days he survives without his best stuff.
All of Quintana’s effective curveballs from Sunday afternoon’s 4-1 loss to the Twins could probably be encompassed in a three-second highlight, but he went ahead and delivered an excellent recovery outing anyway. After giving up three homers in his first start, Quintana struck out seven and gave up two earned runs in 6 1/3 innings in his second.
