José Abreu hit a three-run homer during a four-run first inning in a 5-2 victory against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday at Rogers Centre.
The Sox scored only one run in their previous two games, falling 9-0 to the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday at Tropicana Field and 2-1 in Monday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.
Luis Robert singled on Blue Jays starter José Berríos’ first pitch Tuesday. Two pitches later, Yoán Moncada singled. Two pitches after that, Abreu hit his 26th homer.
Five pitches into the game, the Sox had a three-run lead.
