MINNEAPOLIS — The Chicago White Sox will be without first baseman José Abreu for the entire three-game series against the Minnesota Twins at Target Field because of left ankle inflammation, the team announced Monday.
Abreu suffered the injury while sliding into home plate with the winning run in the ninth inning of Sunday’s 4-3 victory against the Kansas City Royals at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Abreu, the 2020 American League MVP, is slashing .255/.346/.482 and leads the team with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.
