When José Abreu singled to right field on Saturday night for his 1,000th major-league hit, it gave us yet another opportunity to reflect how much he’s meant to the White Sox franchise since arriving in Chicago prior to the 2014 season.
Yesterday he went a step further, driving in the only Sox runs — his 99th and 100th RBI of season, by the way — in the Sox’ 2–0 triumph, which gave the Good Guys a series victory in the four-game set at Guaranteed Rate Field.
After signing a six-year contract with the Sox, Abreu took baseball by storm during the 2014 season — and he’s continued to excel.
