Jose Abreu named the American League recipient of the 2020 Hank Aaron Award, the 1st Chicago White Sox player to earn the honor

Chicago White Sox first baseman Jose Abreu received more recognition for his remarkable 2020 season on Tuesday, earning the American League Hank Aaron Award.

The award honors the “most outstanding regular season offensive performer in each league,” according to a news release from Major League Baseball.

“It is truly a great honor to receive this award,” Abreu said in a statement. “Not even in my craziest dreams did I think my name one day would be alongside one of the greatest hitters in the history of the sport. That is why getting this Hank Aaron award makes me feel so humbled.
