Joe Flamm: Dishing Up a First Pitch Strike

By: Hannah Sundwall

Season 15 “Top Chef” winner Joe Flamm dished out a strike as he took the mound at Guaranteed Rate Field for the ceremonial first pitch on April 22.

Flamm, who was born in Chicago’s Ashburn neighborhood and attended Marist High School, has been a die-hard Sox fan ever since he can remember.

His two favorite Sox players of all-time are Paul Konerko and Frank Thomas. On April 22, 1991, Frank Thomas hit the first homer at new Comiskey Park (now Guaranteed Rate Field), which Joe took as a good omen and attributes his successful first pitch to.
