Fans at U.S. Cellular Field brought their own boos the last time — which also was the first time — James Shields wore a White Sox uniform and pitched.
That was Wednesday, when the right-hander gave up seven runs, eight hits, the lead, three home runs — all but his dignity, really — in two innings during his debut. He would have liked a do-over on the whole second-chance-to-make-a-first-impression thing.
Instead, he will settle for a first chance to make a second impression Monday when he faces the Tigers.
