James Shields gets the start for White Sox in series opener in Cincinnati

The veteran White Sox right-hander will start Monday’s series opener against the Reds at Great American Ball Park, his first start there. That means Shields must bat; he’s hitless in four at-bats this season and has a career .164 average.

Shields (3-9, 4.29 ERA) — who has gone at least six innings in 12 of 13 starts since April 25 — is matched against right-hander Luis Castillo (5-8, 5.85).

Here’s the lineup that will face Castillo:

Yolmer Sanchez, 3B

Daniel Palka, LF
