Seven major-league pitchers have notched 200 innings this season and James Shields needs to go 1 1/3 innings against the Indians Tuesday to reach that mark.

“I think it’s pretty special,” White Sox manager Rick Renteria said. “You’re going to have maybe 10 guys in the league this year that are going to reach 200. … You have five starters per team, you have 10 guys in the whole of baseball to do 200 innings? That’s pretty special.”

Shields has lasted at least six innings in 25 starts this season while compiling a 7-16 record.
