Jake Burger chatted with White Sox hitting coach Todd Steverson, launched batting-practice home runs off manager Rick Renteria and laughed and fist-bumped with third baseman Todd Frazier between hitting sessions.
The Sox first-round draft pick, a professional for only a few days after signing for a $3.7 million bonus last week, seemed to fit right in Monday during his first trip to Guaranteed Rate Field to meet his new club.
"I loved it," Burger said. "When I talked to Paul Konerko, he said the ball flies here. Sure enough, it did."
The former Missouri State third baseman already has fielded a phone call from the former Sox captain and has Konerko's number in his phone with an offer to "call me whenever you need it.
