It’s been a tough couple of years for Jake Burger. White Sox fans understood that even before Tuesday night.
The team's first-round pick in 2017, Burger tore his Achilles twice in 2018 and suffered a setback during his recovery last year in the form of a bruised heel. He hasn’t played in a minor league game since his first action as a pro more than two years ago.
But Burger wants everyone to know that he’s still trying to achieve his dream of playing Major League Baseball, sharing a message on social media Tuesday in which he opened up about depression and anxiety, offered his help to anyone going through something similar and thanked White Sox fans for their ongoing support.
