White Sox catcher Alex Avila won’t likely return from a strained right hamstring for at least four weeks, and it could be a while before center fielder Austin Jackson and reliever Zach Putnam are back from injuries too, general manager Rick Hahn said Thursday.
Avila aggravated his hamstring injury while on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Tuesday, and Hahn said an MRI revealed similar damage to what he has been dealing with on and off this season. Avila hasn’t played since July 5 and was due to return from his stint on the disabled list Thursday before the setback.
