For the second time in less than 60 days, the Cubs claimed pitcher Ian Clarkin off waivers from the White Sox.
The left-hander’s odyssey started Nov. 20 when the Cubs claimed him off waivers from the Sox. But the Cubs elected to put Clarkin, 23, on waivers six days later and the Sox subsequently re-claimed him.
Clarkin remained with the Sox until Jan. 8, when he was designated for assignment to make room for free-agent reliever Kelvin Herrera.
On Wednesday, the Cubs, looking to increase their left-handed relief depth, re-claimed Clarkin.
