The Chicago White Sox placed starting catcher Yasmani Grandal on the injured list July 6 with a torn tendon in his left knee and recalled Seby Zavala from Triple-A Charlotte.
The next night, Zavala was behind the plate at Target Field working with Lance Lynn for the first time as the Sox played the Minnesota Twins.
“When Skipper (Tony La Russa) told me I was going to catch him, I just wanted to watch (video of) what his outings had been, what he does, what he likes and what he doesn’t like,” Zavala said before Wednesday’s game against the Twins at Guaranteed Rate Field.
