The offseason is an ideal time for shoot-the-shit posts, and here’s one that makes the cut before the end of the year.
By now, you have probably heard that Blake Snell is leaving the American League, dealt for three tasty Padres prospects — Luis Patiño (San Diego’s No. 3 prospect), Blake Hunt (No. 9), Cole Wilcox (No. 10) — as well as a useful, young backup catcher in Francisco Mejía.
It’s funny, because almost the minute Jeff Passan at ESPN reported that Snell was at least being floated by Tampa Bay, most of baseball just shook their heads and figured Passan was getting a little bit played by Tampa.
