The following is a real conversation that occurred on in the TV booth during the eighth inning of the White Sox’s 8-5 loss to Detroit on Thursday night. It might feel like it’s Christopher Guest dialogue, but it’s all Chicago improv.
Hawk Harrelson: “You know, we talk about batting average being one of the most misleading statistics in baseball. Kris Bryant, gunning for MVP, probably got a leg up on most guys over there.”
Steve Stone: “You would think so.”
Harrelson: “Well, he’s got 36 home runs and 91 RBIs.
