Hawk Harrelson to retire after 2018 season, Jason Benetti signs multi-year extension

Hawk Harrelson's final year in the broadcast booth will come in 2018.

The White Sox announced Wednesday that Harrelson will retire following an even more reduced schedule next season. Harrelson will broadcast 20 games in his 34th and final season, which will primarily be Sunday games only at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Harrelson said he wants to spend more time with his grandchildren.

Benetti will take over as the primary broadcaster in 2018 and beyond after signing a multi-year contract extension.
