Those who tend to watch baseball home openers on TV with a pang of regret likely were spared disappointment Thursday as the White Sox played host to the Tigers under snow-globe conditions on NBCSCH in their home opener.
“I never had a game (in weather like this) and thank goodness,” former catcher A.J. Pierzynski told Hawk Harrelson and Steve Stone during a visit to the booth. “I would have froze to death.”
It didn’t look cool, just cold.
The ticket-holders who showed up may argue otherwise, but the empty seats from the fifth inning on told a different story.
