Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio to skip All-Star tribute because of unrest in Venezuela

White Sox Hall of Famer Luis Aparicio declined an invitation to participate in a tribute at Tuesday’s All-Star Game to Latino players because of the political unrest in his native Venezuela.

Aparicio, 83, sent out a tweet in Spanish that translates to: “Thanks MLB for the honor at the All-Star Game but I can’t celebrate when young people of my country are dying for their freedom.
