BOCA RATON, Fla. — From Minnie Minoso to Jose Abreu and Alexei Ramirez, the White Sox have a strong connection to Cuba.
Their ties with the tiny island nation could perhaps become even stronger as Major League Baseball intends to play exhibition games in Cuba this spring, and the White Sox are open to the idea. General manager Rick Hahn said he’s intrigued by the possibility and thinks the White Sox have a good chance of being asked given their lengthy history of signing Cuban players.
“I think we’d be a strong candidate for that,” Hahn said.
